About
Welcome to Early Bird Vegan, a delightful plant-based haven situated at 2152 E Broadway Rd, Tempe, AZ. This remarkable eatery is dedicated to serving high-quality, vegan cuisine that satisfies both the palate and the soul. From the moment you step inside, you'll be enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, underscored by the compassionate spirit of the owner and staff, who are eager to provide you with an outstanding dining experience.
One of the most celebrated aspects of Early Bird Vegan is its commitment to customer satisfaction and dietary needs. As noted by a happy customer, Ms. Alhadi, the establishment is exceptionally accessible for those with celiac disease, offering a variety of gluten-free options like the famous Dr. J sandwich on gluten-free bread. The staff’s knowledge of cross-contamination reassures patrons that they are in excellent hands.
What sets Early Bird Vegan apart is not just the fantastic food, but the sense of community that permeates through its walls. The spacious seating and attention to accessibility ensure everyone feels welcome, as mentioned by Dalton Bamburg, who praised the kindness of the staff. Every dish is made fresh upon ordering, which truly enhances the flavor and overall experience. From mouthwatering avocado toast to savory breakfast tacos, every bite reflects the care and thoughtfulness that go into their food.
The owner’s personal touch is felt throughout. Dash Izzy recounts a memorable visit where the owner took the time to greet their baby, emphasizing the genuine relationships built within the community. The thoughtful gestures extend to all customers, enhancing the dining experience and further solidifying the restaurant's reputation.
Beyond the delectable dishes, Early Bird Vegan is dedicated to sustainability and environmental responsibility. They promote recycling, use compostable items, and host events that foster a sense of community. Regular events, such as spoken word nights and special themed dinners, create an inviting environment where locals can connect while enjoying incredible plant-based cuisine. Amy Krynicki shares that even her omnivorous companions found a culinary delight in dishes like the mushroom mac-cheese and vegan “egg” sandwich, proving that Early Bird Vegan truly has something for everyone.
With a commitment to both flavor and ethics, Early Bird Vegan is not just a restaurant—it’s a dining experience that fosters a vibrant community while providing delicious vegan options. This is a place I wholeheartedly recommend. Whether you're a lifelong vegan or simply curious about plant-based eating, Early Bird Vegan is worth a visit. Come for the food, stay for the warmth, and leave inspired to return again soon!

“ The food is exceptional and the staff are incredibly kind, I have always felt welcomed when I visit this restaurant. There is a lot of seating, including marked accessible tables. The food is made when you order and you can taste the difference compared to quicker service locations. I highly recommend this location. ”
“ We’ve been vegan for almost nine years, and we’re always on the lookout for great plant-based spots. This past Friday, we had the pleasure of visiting Early Bird Vegan for lunch, and it was such a wonderful experience. There’s lots of free parking. The location itself is inside an ASU building, and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and impeccably clean the space was. It had a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel comfortable right away. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting the owner, who happened to be there at the time. She was extremely sweet, warm, and supportive, and it was evident how compassionate she is—not just about the food she serves but about the people who come in. She even took the time to greet our baby, which made the experience feel even more personal and special. Ordering was simple and straightforward. The menu had a great variety of options, making it easy to find something delicious. We went with the avocado toast and the breakfast tacos, and both were incredibly flavorful and fresh. We also ordered a vanilla coffee, which was a perfect complement to our meal. Everything was made with care, and you could really taste the quality in every bite. The menu is very affordable, and the options are vast! One thing we really appreciated was the service. The setup is where you order at the counter and then grab a seat, but since we had our hands full with the baby, the owner personally brought our food to the table, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. Beyond the food, what makes Early Bird Vegan stand out is its strong sense of community and environmental responsibility. They host various events, including spoken word nights, and they are deeply committed to sustainability. They use compostable items and promote recycling, with posted throughout the space. From what we understand, they even host recycling and composting events, which is such an eco-conscious and forward-thinking initiative. Overall, we highly recommend Early Bird Vegan. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the owner’s genuine kindness made our visit unforgettable. We can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out—you will love it! God bless the Early Bird Vegan and Krystal! We can’t wait to come back ”
“ We had an amazing brunch here on our way back to New Mexico. The man that helped us, the owners’s husband was a joy to speak with. We tried the mushroom mac-cheese and it was for sure something different and delicious! It was great to have a vegan “egg” sandwich and yummy potatoes, too. Hands down would recommend to a plant or meat eater! ”
“ Such an amazing night. Came here for a special Friday pasta event and it was such a blast. The food is made to order and we met the chef. The dining staff were cordial and the live music was just the perfect addition to make it a special night. Flew in from NYC and will be remembered as a highlight of my trip to Arizona. ”
“ My husband and I were visiting AZ for a wedding and searched for local vegan food. So happy to find Early Bird! The buffalo Mac n cheese is phenomenal and the BBQ Birdie sandwich was fantastic! So delicious! We got to meet the owner Krystal, who is lovely and I feel like we made a new vegan friend. Hepet at the front is awesome and super helpful! Krystal and her entire staff are wonderful and my only complaint is they’re not in Austin - yet ”
“ This little spot is terrific. The service was helpful, friendly, and made food that I could have eaten 5 times over! It was SO DELICIOUS!!! The only suggestion would be to make the inside more cozy. It is inside a hospital or medical type learning facility and it shows (the counter area is a good start toward it being less "cafeteria-ish"). ”
“ huge napkins. minimum of wasted products. works with the city to collect food waste. beautiful women that owned it also made sure to greet us with zen energy and kind offerings. i felt almost nurtured by the environment being so calming and the foods nutritional properties entering my body. genuinely a home cooked meal far away from home. (we were also headed out so we had to go containers) ”
